Mr. Hancock is starting his second year as principal at WHS. He has enjoyed meeting and working with so many wonderful students, parents, and staff members. John Hancock graduated from Midwest City High School in 1992, and shortly after joined the Army. After serving in the Army, he continued his educational path while wrestling in college. He graduated from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies in 2000. Later, he returned to Emporia State University to receive a Masters Degree of Science in Educational Leadership.

Mr. Hancock became part of the Washington Adminstration in the Fall of 2018. He has enjoyed meeting and working with so many wonderful students, parents, and staff members.
Mr. Hancock started his teaching and coaching career in 2000. He has taught all secondary levels, except sixth grade. He has taught History, Math, and Humanities classes. Mr. Hancock has not only reached students in his classroom but he also built relationships through coaching. He was the head wrestling coach of many different teams. He has also been an assistant football coach, a middle school baseball coach, and a tennis coach.
Mr. Hancock married his wife, Sara, in 1995. They have two awesome children, Jacob and Summer.
Mr. Hancock enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, fishing and jeeping.
