Elementary Students Honor Johnny Appleseed
Recently, elementary students recognized and honored Johnny Appleseed. Appleseed was an American pioneer horticulturist who introduced apple trees to large parts of the United States. Arts and craft projects lined the hallways to celebrate Johnny Appleseed Day on September 26th. Pictured are kindergartners who studied the weight of apples by using different methods of measurement. Other classes made applesauce and enjoyed the taste testing. Some crafted cooking pot hats to depict Appleseed, known to travel barefoot and wear a cooking pot on his head to double as protective gear for his head, then could be used for cooking.
