Washington Warrior Family

My name is Justin Mann and I have been in education for over 15 years - seven years in the classroom, three as an assistant principal and going into my seventh year as a head principal. I am a proud father of three boys and have been happily married to the most beautiful woman in the world for sixteen years this July! This coming fall, James will be a sophomore at UCO, Henry a 7th grader, and Charlie in 6th. . My amazing wife Heather will be entering her 10th year teaching early childhood. She is a kindergarten teacher here at Washington Elementary.  Both our immediate family and many of our relatives have been in education for decades, providing an immeasurable support system and legacy to which we strive to foster and uphold.

I began my teaching career at the school I attended as a youth growing up in Del City. I taught Social Studies at Del Crest for seven years before finishing my last year of teaching at Sequoyah MS in Edmond. Upon finishing my graduate school at the University of Central Oklahoma, I became an assistant principal at Monroney MS in Midwest City, where I served for three years. After Monroney, I had the fortune of becoming the head principal at Del Crest MS in Del City for three years, and ended up being the final principal (due to a school merge) at the place where it all began!

The Next Chapter

I am now entering my third year as what I can only refer to as a “dream job” with Washington Public Schools! To say that we are excited to be Warriors, is the understatement of the year! I speak for myself, my wife and my kids when I say that we are beyond exhilarated and grateful for such an incredible opportunity to join the amazing community of Washington!!!

Each and every day that I wake up I am thankful. I realized very quickly when I started, how lucky I really was. I am truly able to say that I love my job. Not many people get to say that. I really do love the fact that I get to come to Washington Middle School every day and be a part of the Warrior Family. I am amazed at how close and tight knit this family is. They care for and look after each other. When there is a need it is quickly met, and in abundance. The students here are extremely respectful. They are bright, compassionate, encouraging and successful, which also speaks to the high expectations upon which they were fortunate to be raised.

I remain unbelievably thankful for this opportunity, and I continue to look forward to what our future holds at WMS!!! IT’S A GREAT DAY TO BE A WARRIOR!!
